K Imperial Fine Art is pleased to present, Transparent Reflection, the latest exhibition of work by contemporary artist Shingo Francis.
It’s often said that life imitates art. But for Shingo Francis, it seems that the opposite is true —art imitates life. Since childhood, Shingo has spent much of his life between Japan and the United States. This transpacific lifestyle undoubtedly had an influence on the artist’s personal and creative disposition. This became even more apparent when Shingo made the decision to move his studio from Los Angeles to Japan.
Shingo uses his unique vantage point at the intersection of American and Japanese aesthetics and culture to create works of captivating clarity, abstraction, refinement, and minimalism. His keen sense of geometry and subtlety inform a visual language of mindfulness and precision that feels equally calming and energizing for the viewer.
While his colors and compositions have mutated with time, there is an abiding sense of intention, presence, and balance throughout all his bodies of work. With his new work, Shingo continues his tradition with the confidence of an artist who has had decades to hone and expand his visual perspective and process. This exhibition is not to be missed.
Shingo Francis was born in Santa Monica, CA. He studied at Pitzer College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He later earned a Master of Arts from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He has exhibited internationally for nearly two decades and has been included in several prestigious collections, publications, and residencies.
